The Watson-Marlow 323 Series Digital Peristaltic Pump is a laboratory and process fluid-transfer pump designed for controlled, accurate and reversible pumping of liquids through flexible tubing. The photographed unit clearly shows the Watson-Marlow branding, 323 series marking, digital RPM display and dedicated START, STOP, MODE, speed and direction controls.

The 323 series uses a peristaltic pumping principle in which the pumphead compresses flexible tubing to move fluid through the line without direct contact between the pumped liquid and the pump mechanism. This makes the system suitable for applications where contamination control, gentle fluid handling and easy tubing replacement are important.

Watson-Marlow’s 323 range includes several drive configurations, including 323E, 323S, 323U and 323Du. Depending on the exact drive and pumphead configuration, the series supports speed ranges from approximately 3–400 rpm and multiple pumphead/tubing configurations. The exact suffix and pumphead fitted to the photographed unit are not visible, so the listing is conservatively identified as a 323 Series pump.

Applications

The Watson-Marlow 323 Series is suitable for controlled liquid transfer, dosing, sampling, laboratory fluid handling and process applications. Different pumphead and tubing combinations allow the same drive platform to handle a wide range of flow requirements.

Typical applications include laboratory sample transfer, reagent dosing, pharmaceutical processing, biotechnology, chemical processing, water treatment and general fluid dispensing. The peristaltic design is particularly useful when the fluid should remain isolated from the pump mechanism and only contact the replaceable tubing.

Watson-Marlow’s current 323-series documentation lists multiple configurations with speed ranges from 3–400 rpm, depending on the drive model and configuration. The series can accommodate 313D, 314D, 501RL, 314MC and 318MC pumpheads, with flow dependent on tubing bore, pumphead and drive configuration.

For example, with a 313D pumphead, published performance ranges from approximately 0.81–110 mL/min with 1.6 mm tubing up to 15–2,000 mL/min with 8.0 mm tubing for applicable 323 configurations. These figures are configuration-dependent and should not be treated as the guaranteed flow rate of the photographed unit.

Benefits of Refurbished Laboratory Equipment

Refurbished Watson-Marlow pumps provide laboratories and processing facilities with access to established peristaltic pumping technology at a lower acquisition cost than purchasing new equipment. The 323 platform is particularly flexible because different pumpheads and tubing sizes can be selected according to the required flow rate and application.

The peristaltic design also allows the pumped liquid to remain within the tubing, which can simplify cleaning and reduce contamination between the fluid and mechanical components. Before use, the pump should be inspected for drive operation, speed accuracy, pumphead condition, tubing compatibility, direction control and electrical safety.

Additional Information

This Watson-Marlow 323 Series pump is a previously used laboratory/process pump with visible signs of use. The photograph shows the 323 digital drive and a pumphead/tubing interface, but the exact model suffix such as 323E, 323S, 323U or 323Du is not visible.

The exact pumphead, tubing size, flow rate, electrical version and service history should be verified before purchase. Tubing is a consumable and should be replaced with tubing compatible with the selected pumphead and application.
